Suggestions from the makers presenting at the Crediton EcoCrafternoon 2025
The 20+ eco-conscious makers who will be present at the EcoCrafternoon have put together a booklist in support of our Community Bookshop, The Bookery on Crediton High Street, and their online platform on Bookshop.org to offer advice, inspiration and instruction related to the techniques they use, and the values that motivate them. Buying from our list through this link directly supports our community.
EcoCrafternoon 2025 is a festive, eco-conscious event, featuring around 20 stalls, at least 6 workshop options (recurring for more than 20 opportunities) and a Textiles & Craft Give & Take Area, on Saturday 29 November at the Boniface Centre (ahead of the Town’s Christmas Light Switch-on). The event is designed to help families, friends, and individuals enjoy a joyful, meaningful, and affordable holiday season—without waste.
This unique celebration of craft, community, and conscious consumption has been organised by social enterprise Significant Seams and community sustainability group Sustainable Crediton. Book workshops online at https://bit.ly/2025EcoCrafternoon
Sadly, a few of our recommendations didn’t make the online list because they have gone out of print or are self published. We additionally recommend:
The Green Makers Initiative (Uni of Plymouth and Make SW with our presenting artist Yuli Somme on the cover)
How to Be a Craftivist by Sarah Corbett (the publisher folded!)
Craftivism: Art & Craft of Activism edited by Betsy Greer (Organiser Catherine West is a contributor to this)
