Making made easy!

We will now be piloting semi-regular public events in the Karen Gutans Workshop.

We will be regularly offer a session processing donated materials into more end-user friendly creative products and kits.

The “Reclaiming Creative Materials” sessions will offer some informal tuition related to a range of textile related crafts: from felting and spinning to sewing and patchwork – based on what materials most need processing.

Additionally a ‘pop-up sewing and craft studio’ will offer makers – and wannabe makers – opportunities to use Significant Seams extensive equipment, avoid making a mess at home, and focus their time on the activity they want to be doing. There will be five sewing machines from Husqvarna Viking (who also make Singer and Pfaff machines), an ironing board and cutting station, a wool drum carder that was purchased with support from Crediton Town Council, and set-ups for needle felting. Advance booking, with an indication of what equipment you hope to use, is encouraged.
