Significant Seams loves the Sustainable Crediton Seedshare. It is truly a community event. There are a range of stalls for people and planet friendly clubs and organisations. There are tables upon tables of seed packets – a pick n mix that changes through the day as people give and take as they plan for the coming growing season. The air smells of bread and delicious soups and fills with the gentle hubbub of happy people catching up, sharing plans, and shuffling through.
Again this year, we will have an activity stall. We are helping Sustainable Crediton get community input into ambitions for a monthly programme of events called Sustainable Saturdays. At the Forum on the Future event in the autumn, members indicated they’d like to have a monthly social event with learning content that brings people together. (Pre-pandemic there was a Sustainable Sundays programme at the library.) To make this happen, they need volunteers to help organise the sessions, ideas as to what content people will come out for, and perhaps some offers of things for the content. So we are inviting the community to come along and have a natter with us about ideas whilst helping us decorate a banner for Sustainable Crediton with representations of the varied things they do: establish pollinator gardens, tree planting, allotment gardening, run the community larder with the Library, host the Seedshare and the Green Fair, manage local woodlands and hedgerows, and bring people together through pig club!
Also, we are encouraging the adults of school aged kids to register their young people with us, to ensure they hear about our youth programme events: Every young person who registers gets a voucher for a FREE Hot lunch .
REGISTER in advance via our eventbrite page or come see us at our stall on Saturday. Lots of yummy soups will be on offer, along with cake and hot drinks.
