Wood Street wins International Award

Significant Seams is proud to announce

Wood St (where we are based) as

the winner of the Great Street Award

Wood Street beat off stiff competition from other streets in Liverpool and Banbridge, Northern Ireland.

THE ACADEMY OF URBANISM is a politically independent, not-for-profit organisation that brings together both the current and next generation of urban leaders, thinkers and practitioners. The awards, now in ITS 11th year “recognises , encourages and celebrates great places across the UK, Europe and beyond, and the people and organisations that create and sustain them.”

Wood Street has a fascinating history and diverse sense of community. The residents and businesses are working together to create an inviting place for residents to live and shop on their high street. The Academy of Urbanism has now recognised Wood street as being one of  the “Greatest Streets” throughout the country.

“We at Significant Seams greatly appreciated the opportunity to get to talk about our neighbourhood with the assessors and really appreciated the residents and Council officers who brought us all together. There are so many inspirational people and great independent and community-minded businesses in our neighbourhood. Its really empowering to have that set of values validated by such an esteemed body. I hope people will second the Academy of Urbanism’s award by shopping on Wood Street this holiday season.” C. West
