The Hub at Wood Street Indoor Market

Until February 2012, Significant Seams worked in area community centres only. Clients seeking support, and volunteers interested in helping us in our work, did not have a place where they could find us.

Thanks to the Outer London Fund, the Walthamstow and Chingford Almshouse Trust, and the landlords of Wood Street Indoor Market, we now have a creative community centre and funky little shop where we can be visited, deliver programmes, and manage the business five days a week. We still provide programmes in other community centres and locales, but now have a friendly and welcoming place of our own.

The Hub is home to:

our Stitch and Craft library – a membership based lending library of books and patterns that is at the centre of a local community of makers;

A range of regular programmes – including a toddlers focused Stories and Sticking programme, the “Woolthamstow” knitting and crochet circle, two after school Craft clubs, and a sewing circle;

our humble haberdashery and fabulous fabric supply centre – we have an ever-growing collection of craft supplies and an impressive rainbow or buttons!

our community building programmes – many of programmes for vulnerable people are delivered in conjunction with our frontline services, but our community building programme is centred here. In 2012 features of the programme include the Neighbourly Quilt and the Jubilee Bunting project.
