Jamming with Friends Empowered

Yesterday afternoon, Significant Seams intern Kate led a jam making session at The Limes children’s and community centre.

Both she and the participants were new to making jam (never having done so without the help of a pro!), but the results were pretty tasty. This is perhaps more surprising due to the jam being made to Christine’s recipe which uses tomatoes; the group were certainly intrigued by this!

The Friends Empowered social group for young adults with learning disabilities were the cooks, and did an absolutely stellar job; even if a few were a bit dubious about “girly” jam making at first!

Kate will hopefully be returning to The Limes soon to make more jam, lead a Stitch – In or two, and continue the conversation about the GROW project.
