Significant Seams’s range of activities is made possible by the generosity and community spirit of our many wonderful volunteers.

Our shop, community space, and office are run almost entirely by a team of 20 regular volunteers and our activities and special projects are supported by a further 50 volunteers. Our volunteers contribute to shaping new community projects, growing our community’s understanding of challenges, making links across service providers and potential markets for our products, improving our services and teaching and sharing textile and craft skills. In practice, they do everything from ring up sales, to sweep the floor, to devise new projects, to trying out new craft kits, and cutting loads and loads of shapes from donated fabrics. Volunteers contribute everything from a single, one-off shift lending expertise or an extra hand, to volunteering for years. From helping us keep the office in order, to running craft activities, to serious stuff like legal advice and bookkeeping, we’d love you to share your strengths and passions in support of our work.

If you’re interested in getting involved, take a look at our current opportunities for regular volunteering. Or, for those who are short on time, we also have some exciting new ‘Speed Volunteering’ roles!
