Exciting new Volunteer Opportunity: Filing and Correspondence Assistant!

We have a fantastic opportunity for a new volunteer to join our friendly office team one or two days a week which needs to be filled ASAP!

Significant Seams continues to be run mainly by our many wonderful volunteers, without whose help none of this would be possible. Our volunteers bring to us a wide variety of skills and experience, and you can find out more about the roles we are recruiting for in general by looking at our Team London listings.

Right now, our most important need is for an organised enthusiastic volunteer who feels confident with computers to help with filing, correspondence, social media posting and other admin tasks.

The full role description is as follows:
This is a great opportunity for a volunteer to support us with some key administration tasks and support for our director. We need someone to help us with filing, recording volunteer hours and keeping various forms and documents in stock, as well as correspondence and making posts to our social media. This is a crucial role for our friendly team – in just a few hours a week you could make a real difference to the day to day functioning of our office all week!

We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and positive. Every week, you’ll need to check our public email accounts and forward email messages to the best person in the team to deal with them, as well as writing down and passing on voicemail messages. There are a number of physical in-trays to check for documents to file, and we also need to keep supplies of spare blank forms and guidance documents in certain places around the office: new ones will need to be printed regularly as they get used up! You would have regular opportunities to design and post content to our social media. Another vital task is managing our log of volunteer hours – entering data from the weekly timesheets, checking the email accounts for any hours reported by our volunteers who work from home, and confirming with the director that no-one’s hours have been missed.

This role would be entirely based in our office and a full induction as well as an appropriate computer or device will be provided. All you need is enthusiasm, good communication skills, and attention to detail. You should also be confident with IT, in particular Microsoft Office. We are open to the possibility of this role being shared by two volunteers working a smaller number of hours each.
Hours: 10:00am- 5:00pm Tuesday and/or Thursday (6-12 hours per week)
