Crafting workshop at FiLia Art 2016 on 10th December
Join Significant Seams as we host a fantastic crafting workshop at FiLia Art 2016 this year at Oxford House, Bethnal Green, E2 6HG. You’ll be creating a fabulous feminist washbag with our wonderful tutor Talula and all materials and equipment will be provided. Please be aware, you will be using a sewing machine, experience isn’t necessary, just a bonus if you do have some! Booking essential using Eventbrite.
The workshop is part of a full day event, with a groundbreaking exhibition of feminist art: FiLiArt:Refuge. This exhibition comes at a critical time. Now more than ever, we must stand up for the values of equality, diversity and solidarity across social divides. At FiLia, they believe that art is a powerful way to bring people together, speaking a shared universal language.
FiLiArt:Refuge explores the boundaries of safety and vulnerability in women’s lives, from the hopes and dreams of Syrian refugee girls, to the devastating impacts of abuse, to the transformative space of sisterhood. Experience vibrant, exciting work from more than 30 women artists, in all types of media, from sculpture and textiles to digital, film and photography.
You can just come for the afternoon workshop, or make a day of it!
