A new programme for Global Entrepreneurship Week
Today heralds the start of Global Entrepreneurship Week, and we could think of no better time to launch our latest programme, the Significant Seams Social Entrepreneurship Programme for Young Unemployed People.
This opportunity will give six local young unemployed people the chance to work with a small E17 community-minded business.
In addition to these placements, the young people will also be guided through creating a business proposal, and mentored throughout by Significant Seams, with support from the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants.
The three businesses involved in the initiative are Significant Seams, Arts and Crusts, and Carbon28. Each business will host two placements, focusing on two distinct projects. Each participant will take on one of these projects, to create a valued and unique piece of work for their host business.
The programme requires 60 hours total commitment from participants. It is expected that all participants will take on the social entrepreneurship whilst pursuing other activities, whether those be paid work, academic studies, or entrepreneurial ideas.
This project is a pilot programme made possible by support from the Borough of Waltham Forest and the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants. Significant Seams will be happy to talk to anyone interested in signing up to participate in this programme, or businesses or organisations interested in sponsoring the scheme.
